AMAZON’S BIG ROLE IN OCEAN PLASTIC POLLUTION

Oceana has today released a report – based on an analysis of e-commerce packaging data – that found Amazon generated 465 million pounds of plastic packaging waste last year. This is comprised of the air pillows, bubble wrap, and other plastic packaging items added to the approximately 7 billion Amazon packages delivered in 2019, according to news accounts.

VeChain has partnered with U.S startup KnowSeaFood to bring transparency to the multibillion-dollar seafood industry. KnowSeaFood will use StoryBird, a supply chain traceability platform powered by the VeChain blockchain to allow its customers to trace their food along the entire supply chain.

FORTUNE INTERNATIONAL EXPANDS MEAT PROGRAM WITH NEESVIG’S ACQUISITION

Fortune International, a Bensenville, Illinois, USA-based processor, distributor and importer of seafood, meats and gourmet food products, has purchased Neesvig’s, Inc., a Windsor, Wisconsin-headquartered processor and distributor of meats and seafood. The acquired company also operates Empire Fish, a Wauwatosa, Wisconsin-based retail store, and a fulfillment operation in DeForest. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
